App User Agreement
The short version
SlabVanta gives you AI-powered estimates and tools to help you decide about trading cards. They are decision aids, not guarantees, and not financial advice.
You are responsible for verifying a card and its recent sales before you buy or sell.
SlabVanta is in a private beta and is provided as is.
This App User Agreement (“Agreement”) is between you and SlabVanta AI, operated by Eric Morris, an individual in the United States (“SlabVanta,” “we,” “us”). It covers the SlabVanta AI iPhone app and the website at slabvanta.com (together, the “Service”). By installing or using the Service you agree to this Agreement and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who can use SlabVanta
You must be at least 13 years old, and if you are under 18 you must have a parent or guardian’s permission. During the private beta, access requires an invite code. Do not share your code with people we have not invited, and do not try to get around the invite or usage limits.
2. Your license
We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on iPhones you own or control, for your own collecting and trading, under this Agreement and Apple’s usage rules. We keep all rights in the Service, its design, code, name and logo that are not expressly granted.
3. What SlabVanta does, and what it does not
- Estimates, not facts. Card identification, market values, sales comparisons, scores, verdicts such as BUY, NEGOTIATE or PASS, max offers, and explanations are generated by software and AI. They can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Market values today are AI web research, not verified sold prices, and are labeled that way.
- No guarantee or advice. SlabVanta does not guarantee a profit, predict future prices, or provide financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Collectibles can lose value.
- No authentication or grading. SlabVanta does not authenticate cards, detect counterfeits, or certify condition or grade. A grade shown is what you or a label reported. Always verify the exact card, parallel, grade and condition, and check recent sales yourself before you buy or sell.
- Your decisions. You alone decide whether to buy, sell, list or hold, and you are responsible for the results, including marketplace fees, shipping, taxes and compliance with the rules of any marketplace you use.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the photos and information you add. You give us a limited license to process them, including sending them to our service providers, only as needed to run the features you use (see the Privacy Policy). You promise that you have the right to use what you photograph or enter and that it does not infringe anyone’s rights or break the law.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service unlawfully, to deceive buyers or sellers, or to misrepresent a card, its grade or its authenticity;
- copy, scrape, resell or build a competing dataset or service from the Service’s output, or use it to train other AI systems;
- overload, probe, reverse engineer, or attempt to break or bypass the security, access codes or usage limits of the Service;
- send content that is unlawful, harmful or that infringes others’ rights; or
- use the contact form to send spam or abusive messages.
6. Third-party services and marks
SlabVanta can open links to marketplaces such as eBay and to web sources found during research. Those sites are not ours, and their terms and policies apply to your use of them. SlabVanta is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by eBay, PSA, Beckett, SGC, Upper Deck, Topps, Panini, The Pokémon Company or any league, team or player. Their names and marks belong to their owners and are used only to describe the cards you collect.
7. Private beta, availability and changes
The Service is a beta. Features may be incomplete, change, be limited, or be discontinued, and the Service may be unavailable at times. Accounts, cloud sync and paid plans do not exist yet. If paid plans are introduced we will tell you before you are charged. Because your data is stored on your device, you are responsible for backing it up using the app’s export and backup tools.
8. Feedback
If you send ideas or feedback, you let us use them without obligation to you.
9. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or end your access, including disabling an invite code, if you break this Agreement, create risk or cost for us, or if we stop offering the beta. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as disclaimers, limits of liability and governing law) will continue.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant that any estimate, identification or verdict is correct.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, SlabVanta and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or losses from a purchase, sale or other decision you make using the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed US $50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, whichever is greater. Some places do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
12. Apple’s terms
If you get the app through Apple’s TestFlight or App Store: this Agreement is between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app, and is not responsible for claims about it. If the app fails to conform to a warranty, you may notify Apple, which may refund any purchase price to you where applicable. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this Agreement and may enforce it against you. You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. embargo and are not on a U.S. list of prohibited parties. Apple’s Media Services Terms also apply.
13. Governing law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and we consent to that venue, except where your local consumer laws require otherwise.
14. Changes to this Agreement
We may update this Agreement. We will change the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app or on this site. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.
